The HostRemote load balancing and high availability service is founded on Alteon switches. Leading a new generation of Web switches Alteon delivers simultaneous support for Layer 2, 3 and 4 through 7 switching. Unlike traditional packet switches, the Alteon switch combines a unique collection of traffic management services within a high-performance Ethernet switch - optimized for switching hundreds of thousands of Web sessions every second. Provides different methods to "stick" to a particular server for an entire e-commerce session, especially for use in shopping carts, etc. "Sticky" methods include session cookies, stick on SSL session, stick on source IP address, etc. The Alteon provides the session cookie so no custom programming is required on the customer's part.

If you choose to implement our value added services such as Caching or SSL acceleration, the Alteon's layer 5-7 aware capabilities allow it to transparently off load specific content to dedicated Cache appliances or SSL accelerators.

Basic Product Features
HostRemote will deploy the load balancing and high availability, which best suits our customer's requirements. For all of our high end customers that desire speed and uptime, we offer a Dedicated Load Balancing service to accommodate high traffic sites. However, we strongly encourage clients to also implement our Multi LAN solution because it increases uptime and eliminates a single point of failure.
